Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 29, 2026

Introduction FrameAR (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a Shopify app that lets shoppers see a store’s artworks on their own wall before they buy: in a photo of their room, in a sample room, or in augmented reality, in the frame they choose. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we need each permission we ask for, how long we keep the information, and what happens when you uninstall the app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what the app needs to show your artworks to your shoppers and to show you the results, from your store and from your storefront:

  • Store information: your store’s name and domain, currency, time zone, Shopify plan type and FrameAR plan. If you write to us, we use your email only to reply.
  • Your email address, only if you agree: FrameAR’s setup guide asks whether we can email you about FrameAR updates and anything that needs your action. If you say yes, we keep the address you give (your Shopify account’s email is filled in, and you can change it), your name to greet you, and when you agreed. Nothing is sent unless you agree, and you can stop the emails at any time on FrameAR’s Home page or by replying to any of them.
  • Product data: titles, descriptions, options and variants, prices, product types, vendors, tags, collections, sales ranking and image addresses. We use them to list your products, to understand each artwork’s sizes and frames, and to let shoppers browse your artworks inside the preview.
  • Product images: for the products you give the preview, we analyze the photo to find the artwork in it and its colors. We keep the result (where the artwork is and its colors), not the image.
  • Theme and brand: your live theme’s fonts, button style and colors, your brand color, and whether FrameAR’s button is placed. Read only.
  • Shopper activity: anonymous counts per product, such as pages viewed, previews opened, artworks placed on a wall, augmented-reality views, pictures and links shared, and items added to cart. Collected only where your store’s cookie banner allows analytics, and never linked to a shopper.
  • Orders: for each order placed in your store, the order ID, currency and total, the products, variants, quantities and amounts ordered, and whether the shopper used the preview (which their own browser remembers for 30 days). Collected by FrameAR’s pixel, following your store’s customer privacy settings. We receive no names, emails, phone numbers or addresses.
  • Shared room photos: only when a shopper chooses to include their room photo in a link they share, we store that photo so the link can show it. Otherwise shoppers’ room photos and augmented-reality views stay on their own device.
  • Shared rooms: when a shopper opens the options to share a room, we keep that room (which artworks, where they hang, and the room’s name) so its link can be short. Nothing about the shopper is attached to it.
  • Your settings: the choices you make in the app, such as appearance, frames, sizes and which products have the preview.

2. Permissions We Ask For, and Why

Shopify asks you to approve each of these when you install FrameAR or when it updates:

PermissionWhy FrameAR needs it
View and edit productsTo list your products so you can choose which get the preview, and to read their options and photos. We write only FrameAR’s own data on a product (where its artwork is, and whether it has the preview); we never change your titles, prices, descriptions or images.
View Online Store: themeTo check that FrameAR’s button is on your product pages, and to match the preview to your store’s fonts, colors and buttons. We never change your theme.
View products: product listings and collectionsSo the preview on your storefront can show your other published artworks and collections for shoppers to browse and compare.
Edit store analytics: web pixelsTo add FrameAR’s pixel, which tells us when an order is placed.
View customers: browsing behavior, device and activity data, app eventsWhat the pixel needs to see orders: we record only what’s listed under Orders above. We don’t store IP addresses, devices or browsing history.

3. How We Use the Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Show your artworks on shoppers’ walls, at their real size and in the frames you sell or offer to try
  • Let you choose products and settings in the app
  • Match the preview to your store’s look, and check that its button is placed
  • Show you in the app how shoppers use the preview and which orders went through it
  • Let shoppers share a room they made
  • Answer you when you contact us for support
  • Email you, if you agreed: a welcome, a note when your previews are ready, FrameAR updates, and anything that needs your action. We never sell your address or give it to anyone for their own use, and we never send other companies’ offers
  • Keep the app working reliably

We do not sell or share merchant or shopper information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

4. Third-Party Processing

We use a small number of service providers, each only for its part of the app:

  • Hosting and storage: our servers and databases are run by a cloud provider.
  • Image analysis: the photos of products you give the preview are sent to an image-analysis service, which returns where the artwork is and its colors. It receives the photos, their product IDs and your store’s domain, nothing more.
  • Text analysis: your products’ titles, descriptions, product types, and option names and values are read by an AI service to work out each artwork’s sizes and frames. It receives no shopper or personal information, and doesn’t use the data to train its models.
  • Email delivery: our emails to you are sent through an email delivery service, which receives your email address and the email’s text, only to deliver it.

In our systems, your data is linked only to your store’s permanent domain. Our providers process data securely and only as needed to perform their services.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep information only as long as the app needs it:

  • Store, product and settings data: while FrameAR is installed.
  • Orders: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Shopper activity: anonymous counts, kept up to 3 months.
  • Shared rooms and their photos: 30 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Your email address: until you stop the emails (it’s deleted then), or until your store’s data is deleted after you uninstall.
  • When you uninstall: our access to your store ends immediately, and all of your store’s data is deleted 48 hours later, when Shopify asks us to. Shared rooms, their photos and anonymous counts still within their periods expire on their own.

You can request deletion of your data at any time, and we will delete it promptly.

6. Security

We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect stored data, including encrypted transmission and restricted access. While no system is entirely immune from risk, we work to maintain a secure environment for all stored information.

7. International Transfers

Our service providers may operate in other countries. Where required, we apply appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

8. Your Rights and Requests

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about your store. Shoppers can make requests through the store they bought from; we hold no names or contact details about them.

All requests can be made via the contact email below.

9. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.

10. Contact

For any questions, data deletion requests, or privacy concerns, contact us at:

Shopify Compliance

We follow Shopify’s app data handling and deletion requirements, and answer its privacy requests: a shopper’s data request (we hold no names or contact details about shoppers), a shopper’s deletion request (we delete the orders listed), and a store’s deletion request (we delete all of the store’s data, 48 hours after uninstall).
